Bleh, so last night the computer was attacked by some'window registry' virus. I was going to use Stopzilla to get rid of it but the hubby just renewed our Norton today instead.

The problem. Sometime last night while restarting the computer a bunch of times I must have hit something, maybe 'system recovery' and now my pics, my documents, my music and my favorites are all gone. I have a few documents left that were maybe saved some where else and are accessible but I need to know if I can get the other stuff back.

Should I do a Microsoft System restore to try and go back to before the virus or before my 'system recovery' blunder? Will that restore my docs, music, photos?

I'm on a HP with windows vista home premium.

Is this something I should take to the geek squad?

Any and all help appreciated, though right now I am off to bed and won't get to try anything til tomorrow afternoon.

ETA: Found my music folder! This makes me hope hope hope that the other stuff is just lost somewhere on my computer.
