Fic: Shut up and drive (Heroes) Nathan and Peter

Title: Shut up and drive
Pairing: Hmm, not really Nathan/Peter but okay, it is but non graphic like.
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: Not mine, no moola being made
Spoilers: Nope
A/N: No beta. Written for [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 who was feeling a litte down earlier. Also some of this may have been in chat the other night. So if I used some of that, credit to chat.

On Friday, Peter called Nathan and announced, “I’m running away, you coming?”

Nathan planned to say no, but what came out of his mouth was a relieved and eager, not that he’d ever admit to it, sigh. “I’m renting the car. You rent shit cars, Peter.”

Nathan hung up on Peter’s protest of, “It was one time!” He wrapped up his work and made a few calls. He could get his administrative assistant to do it but he liked this part. Thirty minutes later, he was on his way to pick up a silver two door Mercedes CL600 coupe. An hour after that, he waited while Peter threw some clothes in a bag, grabbed his wallet, a bottle of water, and locked up.

They hit traffic, but the crowd doesn’t last long. Nathan loved the feel of the car. He didn’t drive often and easily forgot the power and control it took. Peter stretched and fidgeted before he said, “Nice car. If fits you.”

Nathan frowned. “What do you mean?”

Peter didn’t look at him but Nathan saw the smirk that slowly spread across Peter’s face. “Rich, middle-age white guy making his way somewhere he’s not supposed to go for the weekend.”

“I am not middle-aged. Fuck you.” Nathan only felt comfortable cursing Peter when they were alone and there was no chance they would be overheard.

Now Peter looked at him and the smirk was a mean smile. “Awww, did I hurt you upper class middle-age feelings?”

Nathan took one hand off the wheel and lightly smacked Peter’s forehead. “You call me middle-aged again and I will leave you on the side of the road.” He was joking and knew Peter knew he was joking. This banter was there to cover whatever was wrong with Peter.

Peter shrugged and said, “I’m young, unlike other people in this car. I could get a ride.”

Nathan rolled his eyes and switched lanes. “Yeah, and end up on an episode of CSI.”

They’re silent after that and Nathan drove until Peter said, “Pull over. I want snacks, and a bathroom.”

Nathan slid the car into a parking spot like it had his name on it. “Don’t get a bunch of sticky crap.”

Peter’s response, “Yeah, yeah, bite me,” made Nathan glad the lot was mostly empty. Something was bothering his brother and he’d have to pry it out of him before they could start back.

Nathan’s cell phone rang and he answered. He didn’t get out a greeting before Peter said, “Are you coming in here, or are you going to keep leaning against the car while the women in here let their brains drip out of their ears? You are not a male model.” Peter hung up and Nathan sighed.

This was going to be a long drive.

End
