It didn't seem casual to me. I saw it as a necessary evil. Thompson implied that if the Hatian hadn't wiped Sandra's memory, she would have been killed.
That's my biggest worry for her right now. When HRG blew his cover, he blew hers to. Even if he escapes, she might not.
